EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
The ACC educational program provides a broad range of foundational subjects with special emphasis on literacy and numeracy.
Other areas that are also important within the curriculum are the spiritual, emotional, social, and personal aspects of the growing child. Included here are
- developing good character
- skills in dealing with feelings
- taking responsibility for one's own behaviour
- developing skills related to sharing and caring and
- dealing with conflict
- striving for one's personal best
- developing good time management and independent work skills.
Our educational program encourages students to learn from a holist perspective, whilst developing critical thinking skills and life skills
Serious consideration has also been given to the development of our Pace text structure. The development of Pace text material took into consideration such issues as the scope and structure for each subject for each level, progressing from Grade 1 to Grade 12. It allows each student to progress with greater independence and with less reliance on adults for academic content.
Careful consideration was also given to how children learn and to child development levels related to such issues as the appropriate introduction of concrete and abstract concepts, terminology and vocabulary control, amongst other aspects.
